Wife testifies in husband's trial in Ashdown couple's deaths

ASHDOWN — A wife has testified in the murder trial of her husband in the 1997 deaths of an Ashdown couple and attempted killing of their baby.

The Texarkana Gazette reported that Vickie Howard testified Tuesday about a key piece of evidence in the trial that started last week at Little River County Courthouse.

A pair of boots was discovered near the Howard farm the same day of the killings. Experts have testified that blood on the left boot belonged to Brian Day and that hair inside the boots belonged to Timothy Lamont Howard.

Vickie Howard said she saw the boots inside a U-Haul her husband drove.

Prosecutors have said Timothy Howard killed Shannon Day because she thought she was pregnant with his child and that he killed Brian Day for money.
