Where I live: I live in a one-level patio home in Carmel Valley in west Little Rock with Callie, my 16-year-old miniature dachshund; Gimlet, an oversize spoiled rotten Yorkie; and 10 koi fish (some the size of my upper thigh) that shall remain nameless.
Occupation: I am an executive coach and small-business consultant who plays a lot of golf and is an aspiring potter.
My favorite space is: My home is truly an expression of an eclectic life and interests, and so my favorite space changes with the seasons. As spring arrives, my attention moves outside to my patio area, which encompasses my koi pond and perennial gardens.
Why? The patio is large enough for multiple sitting areas and great for entertaining. It is also inviting for quiet meditation while listening to the koi pond waterfall. The area is sunny in the morning, making it perfect for sitting on the couch with my puppies, reading the paper and drinking coffee; and then the patio becomes shady in the afternoon, just in time for winding down with a glass of wine with a friend. I can play in the garden, get dirty and hopefully create something beautiful.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: I would like to have a Garden Fairy come by every night to scare off the vermin, zap the weeds and sprinkle magic grow dust on the new flowerbeds.
