Top Quiz Bowl teams rewarded

The Arkansas Governor's Quiz Bowl Association has awarded $3,000 scholarships to each of the seven first-place teams in the 2015 Arkansas Quiz Bowl, recently held at the Arkansas Educational Television Network Studio in Conway.

Second-place teams were awarded $1,500 scholarships in what was the 30th anniversary of the annual competition.

Following are the results of the finals and the names of the winning team members by school size classification as provided by AETN:

• Class 1A -- Sacred Heart Catholic School in Morrilton defeated Mt. Vernon-Enola High. The members of the Sacred Heart team were Adam Cambiano, Chloe Andrews, Andrew Dunlap, Shamus McGee, Nicholas Hoelzeman, Evan Hamling, Cole Bottoms, Avery Croswell and Sharon Duvall. The coaches were Patti Bottoms and Rachel Kordsmeier.

• Class 2A -- Conway Christian School defeated Hazen High. The members of the Conway Christian team were Scott Austin, Jackson Quick, Wesley Oliver, Alec Ohlde, Will Callaway, Ross Minner, Ancil Lea and Marc Cochran. The coach was Shawna Oliver.

• Class 3A -- Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock defeated Centerpoint High in Amity. Members of the Episcopal Collegiate School team were Jackson Bridges, Dylan Wright, Alan May, Victoria Jones, Ezra Feldman, Steven Angtuaco, Adam Hall, Anna Feldman and Samuel Rhee. Coaches were Stan Whittlesey and Bruce Hall.

• Class 4A -- Subiaco Academy defeated Hamburg High. Members of the Subiaco Academy team were William Owens III, Andy Davis, Jesus Calvillo, Davis Elliott, Nick Langston, Axel Ntamatungiro, Jacob Maestri, Patrick Giuliani and Walker Cobb. Coaches were Stephen Thompson and Laura Anderson.

• Class 5A -- Morrilton High defeated Little Rock Christian Academy in Little Rock. Morrilton team members were Baxter Yarbrough, Brett Harken, Jonathan Rankin, Thomas Ragland, Igor Hartko, John Hopkins and Drew Patterson. The coach was Cody Vest.

• Class 6A -- Benton High defeated Russellville High. Benton team members were Matthew Howard, Sam Bell, Dawn Le, Sabastian Clark, Austin Dorman and Caleb Webb. The coach was Brian West.

• Class 7A -- Conway High defeated Fort Smith Southside High. Members of the Conway team were Bethany Starr, Zelda Engeler-Young, Jillian Tang, Monica Choquette, Matt Sweere, Blaine Booher, Tim Ablondi, Ben Coney, Joe Coker, Tarek Esaw, Megan Haase, Peter Grant, Jack Lester, Savannah Raup, Kierstan Taylor and Kaelin Taylor. The coach was Paula McKee.
