Parts of Arkansas could see severe thunderstorms this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Chris Buonanno, science and operations officer with the agency’s North Little Rock office, said the strongest thunderstorms are expected in western areas of the state.
The storms, which are expected to last through Sunday, could be “marginally severe” and capable of producing strong winds, Buonanno said in an email.
The atmosphere across Arkansas contains an abnormally high amount of moisture, Buonanno said, which will produce heavy rainfall and the possibility of flash flooding.
