Courtway contract extended one year

CONWAY -- Trustees at the University of Central Arkansas voted Friday to extend President Tom Courtway's contract by one year through June 30, 2017.

The board also amended Courtway's contract to remove a provision requiring that he live in the UCA-owned president's house on Donaghey Avenue.

Courtway and his wife, Melissa, recently moved to a rented home in Conway at their own expense and are not seeking reimbursement for living expenses there.

The president has said the move will give him and his wife more privacy and said it also will allow for even more university functions in the university's two-story presidential house, which is across the street from the campus.

Courtway, 62, makes $240,000 a year.

Employee raises, bonuses approved

CONWAY -- The University of Central Arkansas board of trustees voted to give pay raises and bonuses to faculty and staff during a meeting Friday.

The board opted to give merit bonuses of 1 percent, 2 percent and 3 percent to all classified employees in June. The raises will be based on each employee's salary and evaluations. Full-time faculty members and unclassified staff will get 2 percent across-the-board bonuses in June.

The board also voted to give all employees a 1 percent cost-of-living salary increase for the next fiscal year, which starts July 1. Some merit and equity raises also were approved.
