Groups rally in support of Arkansas campaign finance measure

LITTLE ROCK — A coalition of groups is rallying support for a measure vying for a spot on the Arkansas ballot next year that would require more disclosure from outside political groups participating in campaigns.

The groups marched from MacArthur Park to the state Capitol on Tuesday in support of the proposed initiated act by Regnat Populus that would require more reporting on spending by outside groups in political campaigns. Regnat Populus has submitted the measure to the attorney general's office, which must certify the proposal before petitions can be circulated to try and get it on the ballot.

The measure also includes a non-binding resolution calling for a federal constitutional amendment aimed at overturning a 2010 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that cleared the way for unlimited political spending by corporations and unions.
