Man charged in Saline County stabbing

A man was arrested and charged with first-degree battery after stabbing another man in Saline County early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Officials say Kenneth Weaver, 40, purportedly stabbed James Swayze several times in the torso and once in the thigh after a verbal argument turned physical, Saline County Sheriff Rodney Wright said in a news release.

The incident reportedly happened about 2 a.m. at a home in the 12000 block of Samples Road.

Weaver left the home after the stabbing and deputies found him a short time later on Samples Road near Denny Drive, the release states. He was transported to the Saline County jail and later released on $10,000 bond.

Swayze was transported to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock where he underwent surgery for a collapsed lung, Wright said. He is now in stable condition and expected to survive, the release states.
