Officers responded about 12:20 a.m. to Arkansas Children's Hospital, where Kaylon Williams, 18, was being treated for a gunshot wound on an upper thigh. Police reported that his injuries were not life-threatening.

Williams said he'd been walking in the 1300 block of Marshall Street near West 14th Street when he heard what sounded like fireworks, according to a police report. He continued walking until he felt a burning sensation in his leg. Williams said he flagged down a passing motorist who drove him to the nearest hospital, the report states.

Williams' cousin, Edmond Blue, 23, provided a different account. Blue said he'd picked up Williams at a "gambling house" at East Third and Bender streets, according to the report. Blue said he was the one who drove Williams to the hospital.

About 25 minutes after police found Williams hospitalized, they responded to a shooting report at UAMS Medical Center. A 16-year-old boy was being treated for a gunshot wound on his left leg. His injuries also were not life-threatening, police said.

The boy told police he and some friends had been at an unknown apartment complex in southwest Little Rock when they got into an argument with another group of people, according to a police. Someone pulled out a gun and began shooting, he said.

The boy's brother, Gary Johnson, 26, told police the shooting had actually occurred outside a Walgreen's at 5917 Baseline Rd., the report states. Johnson said they'd pulled over at the pharmacy to inspect a spare tire and someone shot at them.

Neither of the brothers could provide a description of a suspect to police.

Officers searched the areas of both shootings, but found no crime scene.

Circumstances of the shootings remained unclear Monday, but police spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said investigators had no reason to believe they were connected.

An investigation is ongoing, Allen said.

No arrests had been made late Monday.
