Deputies arrested and charged an Arkansas Department of Corrections officer Tuesday with eight counts of raping a child, authorities said.
Gary Vice, 54, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. at the Arkansas Department of Corrections unit in Malvern, Saline County Sheriff Rodney Wright said in a news release.
Vice held the rank of corporal and had been employed as a correctional officer at the Malvern unit for over a year, Wright said.
The sheriff's office started investigating Vice on Sunday, the release states. More charges could be filed, depending on additional evidence found during the continuing investigation, Wright said.
Vice was being held in the Saline County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond but is no longer listed on an online inmate roster.
