CONWAY -- The Faulkner County sheriff's office was holding two people on drug charges Wednesday after finding a man shot to death in their yard.
The body of Charles Oakey, 40, was found lying on a front porch on Waterfront Cove in Conway, the sheriff's office said in a news release.
Sheriff's deputies had earlier responded to a call about a disturbance at 156 Waterfront Cove.
"The caller advised that a white male was in her yard cursing, drinking beer and hitting her house with a boat paddle," the release said.
A few minutes later, sheriff's dispatch got another call saying the man had walked to 146 Waterfront Cove, where a gunshot was heard.
Deputies arrested the homeowners at the latter address on two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The release identified them as Brian N. Gay, 47, and Kaye L. Brown, 46.
Chief Deputy Matt Rice said Wednesday that authorities were trying to determine whether the shooting was justified.
He would not say whether authorities believe they know who fired the shots.
