BENTON -- An Arkansas Department of Correction employee was arrested on rape charges involving a minor, the Saline County sheriff's office news release said Wednesday.
Detectives arrested Gary Vice, 54, at the department's Ouachita River Correctional Unit in Malvern about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the release said. Vice was charged with eight counts of rape involving a minor.
Sheriff Rodney Wright said in the news release that investigators first became active in the investigation Sunday but moved quickly to make an arrest.
The sheriff's office said Vice is a correctional officer at the Malvern unit, holding the rank of corporal.
Vice was no longer listed on the Saline County jail roster Wednesday evening after being released on a $25,000 bond.
An investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed, according to the sheriff's office.
