Stone County head-on crash kills 2, hurts 1

Four Arkansans have died in three wrecks on Arkansas roadways since Monday, Arkansas State Police said.

Two Mountain View residents were killed in an early Wednesday morning wreck in Stone County, state police said.

Matthew Mealer, 26, of Mountain View was driving a 1998 Dodge east on Arkansas 66 when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the westbound lane, striking a 2002 Ford, state police reported.

Mealer and a passenger in his vehicle, Owen McCullough, 26, of Mountain View, were killed in the crash that occurred at 12:27 a.m. Wednesday west of Mountain View, state police said.

The driver of the Ford, Brayden Morrison, 19, of Mountain View was injured and taken to a hospital in Mountain View, according to state police.

Conditions were cloudy but the road was dry at the time of the collision, state police reported.

State police also reported that a Maumelle woman died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a Monday afternoon crash in Little Rock.

Anika Walker, 35, of Maumelle was driving a 2009 Yamaha west on West 12th Street in Little Rock, state police reported. A Lexus traveling east on West 12th Street attempted to turn left onto North Pine Street, and the Yamaha struck the Lexus head-on.

The wreck occurred at 2:05 p.m. Monday in the 3900 block of West 12th Street, according to state police.

Walker was taken to UAMS Medical Center, where she died Tuesday, state police said. The driver of the Lexus was not identified in the report.

Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash, state police reported.

On Monday night, state police said an Austin man died in a one-vehicle wreck in Pope County.

Carl Boyster Jr., 40, of Austin was a passenger in a 1998 Chevrolet Venture that was traveling east on Arkansas 124, state police reported. The driver lost control and the minivan left the roadway, hitting a culvert and overturning. Boyster died at the scene.

The wreck occurred at 11:25 p.m. Monday night, about four miles east of Russellville, according to state police.

The driver of the minivan, Crystal Crouch, 35, of Russellville, was injured in the accident and taken to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, state police reported.

Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the wreck, state police said.
