4 die in collision on Arkansas 7

Four people died after a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon in Hot Spring County, Arkansas State Police said.

State police said the four people were in a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander traveling south on Arkansas 7. A 2011 Ford pickup traveling north on Arkansas 7 crossed the centerline while negotiating a curve and struck the Chevrolet head-on, killing all four occupants.

State police have identified one of the victims as Allen Ray Rhein, 63, of Bismarck. He was pronounced dead at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs.

Authorities are still working to confirm the identities of the other three victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene, Hot Spring County Coroner Ernest Cox said. Their bodies have been taken to the state Crime Laboratory for identification.

The collision occurred about 3 p.m. Tuesday near Tower Road's intersection with Arkansas 7 north of Bismarck, according to state police.

The driver of the Ford, Benjamin Ward Ledwell, 33, of Texarkana, Texas, was injured and transported to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, state police said.

State police also said an Ogden pedestrian died early Thursday morning from injuries suffered Wednesday night in Little River County.

Adrian Deadner, 56, of Ogden was walking his bicycle west on the shoulder of Little River County Road 70 about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday when a 1988 Plymouth traveling west struck him, state police said.

Deadner was pronounced dead at 1:12 a.m. Thursday at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas, state police reported.

The driver of the Plymouth, Mark Merrell, 31, of Ashdown was not injured, state police said.

Conditions were clear and the roads were dry at the time of both crashes, state police reported.
