Authorities are investigating a Friday morning fire in Little Rock that left one person dead.

Delbert Griffith, 57, died in a fire at his home at 4721 W. 24th St., according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

Little Rock Fire Department Capt. Edwin Woolf said about 18 firefighters responded to the fire about 8:57 a.m. and extinguished the fire pretty quickly.

Griffith's niece told authorities she went to his house Friday morning to take him to the store, the report states. The niece went on to the store since her uncle wasn't ready and found the house engulfed in flames when she returned, police said.

The Little Rock Police Department's crime scene investigators were asked to assist the fire department's arson investigators, Woolf said. Griffith's death did not "appear suspicious" Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said in an email.
