Tirade said to be over 'Jesus' sign

A Maumelle man was arrested after verbally abusing an individual holding a "Trust Jesus" sign and yelling obscenities at police in downtown Little Rock at 11 p.m. Saturday, according a police report.

Jack Weir, 23, of 50 Blue Mountain Drive in Maumelle, was repeatedly asked to leave by the person holding the "Trust Jesus" sign, but he refused to do so, according to the report. Weir then began yelling obscenities at police at the intersection of President Clinton Avenue and River Market Avenue, causing a crowd to gather, according to the report. The report also said Weir was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol.

Police arrested and booked Weir into the Pulaski County jail on misdemeanor public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges. On the report, Weir's closest relative was listed as "Jesus H. Christ."

Weir's bail was set at $600, and he was no longer listed on the jail roster Sunday night.

Burglary suspect blames drug habit

A man arrested on an attempted burglary charge Friday admitted to trying to steal from a home to "support his crack habit," a North Little Rock police report states.

Police arrested 64-year-old Gill Curtis Jr. after he purportedly broke out a window at 218 E. 16th St. in North Little Rock.

According to a police report, officers responded to the residence about 2:30 p.m. and found Curtis with a crack pipe in his front pocket. A bedroom window had been broken, and a kitchen knife was stuck in the screen.

Curtis later admitted to breaking out the window with a rock to steal "a TV or something," the report states.

Curtis was booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of criminal attempt to commit residential burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bail was set at $10,000, and he remained on the jail's roster late Sunday.

Police: Man broke into 3 cars at club

A Little Rock man was arrested Sunday morning over accusations he broke into three cars at the Little Rock Athletic Club on Sam Peck Road, according to a police report.

Walter Oates, 27, of 2309 South Harrison St., was arrested on a warrant for theft by receiving, fraudulent use of a credit card, breaking and entering to an automobile and theft of property. Oates was seen on a video camera breaking into three cars and taking items, according to the report.

Oates was being held in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of a $11,250 bond. He remained on the jail's roster late Sunday.
