The Jonesboro Police Department found Nelson McCullough, 28, lying on the floor in his home in the 1300 block of West Monroe Avenue at about 12:45 p.m. Monday, Police Department spokesman Paul Holmes said in a news release.

Witnesses told police that two men who were allowed in the house shot McCullough before fleeing in a vehicle. McCullough later died at a hospital.

No one had been arrested in the case as of late Monday.

Police do not believe there is a connection between this shooting and the homicide that occurred early Saturday morning, Holmes said in the release.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 6:20 a.m. Saturday of multiple shots fired in the 2700 block of Curtview Drive. When they arrived, they found the body of Brian Kyle Gipson, 29, of Jonesboro, lying in the roadway.

Gipson's body will be sent to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy, police said.
