Officers are searching for a Pine Bluff man who has been charged with aggravated robbery after purportedly robbing a woman early Tuesday morning at her apartment, police say.

The woman returned to her home at Seasons Apartments, 301 W. 33rd Ave., about midnight and noticed the rug in front of her apartment "wasn't how she left it," according to a Pine Bluff Police Department report.

The woman told police she entered the apartment anyway and found a man identified as Raymond Nelson Jr., 50, in her hallway holding a black handgun, the report states. She sprayed pepper spray in Nelson's eyes and said Nelson told her to calm down because he "wasn't going to hurt her," police said.

Nelson took the woman's cellphone from her, and that's when the woman unsuccessfully tried to take his gun, the report states.

Police said Nelson took the woman's purse, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, and ran out the front door of the apartment and toward the back of the apartment complex. Officers found that he got into her apartment by removing a piece of wood from her bedroom window and climbing through it.

Nelson has been charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, being a felon in possession of a firearm and theft of property, the report states. He is described as a 5-foot-11 black man who drives a black Ford F-150 truck with a Harley Davidson decal on the back glass.

Anyone with information about Nelson is asked to call Pine Bluff police at (870) 730-2090 or (870) 541-5300.
