Jacksonville police said they were called at 9:24 p.m. Sunday to the home at 802 S. Oak St., where resident Earnestine Brooks said Mary Crystal Sauerwin, who lives at 806 S. Oak St., had come out of her house swinging a bat and threatening to "kill all of you." Brooks told police she was able to get the bat away from Sauerwin, who then went back inside.

Brooks showed an officer an aluminum bat that she said Sauerwin had swung at her and two other women.

Police knocked on Sauerwin's door but said she at first refused to answer. Eventually, she let officers inside and said two windows had been broken out of her home. As she led an officer into a bedroom to point out one of the broken windows, the officer smelled marijuana and saw suspected marijuana and paraphernalia on a dresser, according to a report.

Sauerwin, who also uses the name Mary Crystal Castillo, was arrested at 12:26 a.m. in connection with the threats and was also charged with possession of paraphernalia and served with a warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous charge.

International truck stolen; man held

North Little Rock police arrested a 53-year-old Stuttgart man at 7:45 a.m. Monday after two men reported seeing a man steal a 2009 International truck, without the trailer, from Pat Salmon & Sons Trucking Co. at 4813 E. McCain Blvd.

Steve Elliot of Hot Springs told officers that the truck was parked next to a dispatch building, unlocked, with the keys inside but the ignition off, when the thief got inside and drove it across the company's lot, causing the clutch to fail, according to a police report. Elliot said the thief then fled on foot toward Arkansas 161.

An officer reported finding Wayne Joseph Miller in the area and said Elliot and John Campbell both identified him as the man they had seen in the truck. After being arrested on charges of theft of property and criminal mischief, Miller told police, "I don't know how I got in that truck," according to a report.

Police said the truck was worth an estimated $30,000, and Elliot estimated it would cost $5,000 to repair the clutch.

Police arrest NLR teen after chase

North Little Rock police said they arrested an 18-year-old Sunday after a car and foot pursuit that ended at the Summertree apartment complex at 5300 Summertree Drive.

Ethan Shadell of 516 Wicker Lane was charged with theft by receiving, possession of a handgun by a minor and fleeing, according to police.

Police said they received a call at 6:50 p.m. about shots fired in the 3500 block of Mellene Drive from a light blue, newer model Chevrolet Malibu. Officers reported seeing the car traveling on Summertree Drive and taking a wide right turn onto Velvet Ridge, prompting them to attempt a traffic stop on Camp Robinson Road.

Instead of stopping, though, the driver increased the car's speed and was pursued by police to Kari Hill Place, where police said the driver got out, jumped over a fence and fled into the apartment complex. A resident of the complex identified Shadell as the man she saw running through the complex.

Police arrested him shortly before 8 p.m. and took him to the Pulaski County jail. Police said he had a minor bruise on his right shoulder.
