Sherwood shooting suspect in custody

A man wanted in connection with a shooting at a Sherwood apartment complex last week surrendered to police Tuesday.

Jonathan Foster, 22, was charged with first-degree battery, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and residential burglary. Police had been seeking Foster since May 18, when a resident of the North Quarter Pavilion apartments at 9901 Brockington Road exchanged gunfire with an intruder and was shot.

Police haven't identified the resident, who reportedly suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Foster, of 300 Indianhead Drive in Sherwood, was being held at the Pulaski County jail late Tuesday. He faces an additional charge of failure to comply.

Mugged walking to store, man says

Police were seeking a man known as "Big Mane" in connection with a robbery Monday in Little Rock.

Officers were called about 1 p.m. to the One Stop convenience store at the corner of Asher Avenue and Maple Street. Joey Williams, 53, said he'd been walking to the store with cash in his hand when Big Mane snatched it away, according to a police report. Williams tried to take back the money, but Big Mane, who is described as black, 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 250 pounds, attacked him and fled north on Maple Street.

Williams received medical treatment at the scene. His injuries were minor, police said.

Officers searched the area but made no arrests.

Shot from bushes, injured man says

Little Rock police were investigating a shooting that injured one person, reportedly near McClellan High School late Sunday.

Officers were called to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary just before midnight, where Quentin Watson, 20, was being treated for a gunshot wound in his right shoulder. Watson's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Watson and a friend, Khi Simms, 20, told investigators they'd been walking in front of the school at 9417 Geyer Springs Road when they heard a gunshot from some bushes nearby, according to a police report. The two said they didn't see the shooter, the report states.

Police searched the area but did not find a crime scene.

No arrests had been made Tuesday.

2 skateboarders robbed in LR park

Two men skateboarding at a Little Rock park Sunday night were robbed at gunpoint, police reported.

Jessie Talkington and Justin Walls, both 22 years old, told police they were at Kanis Park about 11:50 p.m. when two men wearing hoodies and masks approached, according to a police report. One of the men had a gun. The robbers took cellphones and keys from Talkington and Walls and left on foot.

No injuries were reported.

Police searched the area but made no arrests.

The suspects are both described as black, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, and weighing 160 pounds. One appeared to be 18 to 23 years old, the report states.

An investigation is ongoing.

Driver is charged with manslaughter

Sherwood police reported Tuesday that a North Little Rock man has been charged with manslaughter, accused of striking a motorcyclist with his car Saturday night and killing him.

According to a Sherwood Police Department news release, police were called to an accident about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Warden Road in Sherwood. Police said Kylon Williams, 30, of North Little Rock was driving a 2013 Ford Mustang when he hit a motorcycle driven by Denvel Williams, 21, of Little Rock.

Denvel Williams, who is not related to Kylon Williams, died at the scene, police reported.

Kylon Williams was arrested at the scene and charged with manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and reckless driving. He was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster Tuesday afternoon.

Police spokesman Lt. Jamie Michaels said the accident was still under investigation.

Wrightsville man sought in shooting

Pulaski County sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who they say shot a Wrightsville man through his front door Monday.

According to a sheriff's office report, deputies responded to 16504 4th St. in Wrightsville about 8:20 p.m. Monday. Deputies found Steven Haygood Sr., 56, sitting on the floor just inside the residence holding a washcloth to his chest. Haygood told deputies he had been shot in the chest by Matthew McKee, 34, of Wrightsville.

Haygood said he'd told McKee to leave his residence earlier because McKee was drunk, the report said. A short time later, McKee knocked on the front door. After Haygood told McKee to leave, he said McKee shot him through the front door.

Haygood was transported to UAMS Medical Center, the report said. His injury is not considered life-threatening.

Deputies recovered a shell casing on the front porch believed to be from a 9mm gun.

McKee is wanted on first-degree battery charges. He is described as black and 6 feet tall.

Boy, 8, hit, injured walking to his bus

An 8-year-old Pulaski County Special School District student was struck by a car Tuesday morning while walking to his bus.

The second-grader at Chenal Elementary School suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. He was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital for treatment, the sheriff's office said.

The student was struck about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday by a Toyota Camry driven by Karen Wilson near Rocky Lane's intersection with Colonel Glenn Road in southwestern Pulaski County, according to a sheriff's office report.

The bus was stopped with warning lights and stop sign engaged when the student walked toward the bus, the report said. The car struck the student, who was flung into the air and landed about 33 feet away in a ditch.

Wilson told deputies she wasn't speeding and wasn't distracted while driving, She said she didn't see the school bus with its flashing lights until it was too late, the report said. She said she didn't see the boy until impact.

Wilson was cited for careless driving and failure to yield to a school bus, the report said.
