Bruce Hampton at Stickyz; Juanita's is Framing Hanley

Col. Bruce Hampton will perform at 9 p.m. Friday at Stickyz Rock 'n' Roll Chicken Shack. Admission is $10.

Hampton has founded and then left numerous bands, including the Hampton Grease Band, Aquarium Rescue Unit, the Fiji Mariners, the Quark Alliance and the Code Talkers. He has released 16 albums, one of which he named Arkansas (1987).

He had a role as Morris, the band manager, in Billy Bob Thornton's 1996 Arkansas-set movie Sling Blade. Hampton has made guest appearances on albums released by Frank Zappa, Widespread Panic, Susan Tedeschi, Medeski Martin & Wood and CeDell Davis.

Cody Canada and The Departed will perform at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, with Radio Birds as the opening act. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 the day of the show.

Canada, the former lead singer of Cross Canadian Ragweed, formed The Departed in 2011.

The Zoltars will headline a show at 8 p.m. Sunday, with Open Fields opening. Admission is $6.

Two Lane Blacktop returns for a performance at 9 p.m. Friday at the Town Pump. Admission is $5.

The band features Wythe Walker on vocals and guitar, Ray Wittenberg on vocals and drums, Bill McCumber on bass and John Gaiser on lead guitar. Walker, Wittenberg and McCumber are also members of The Smittle Band. In Two Lane Blacktop, they focus on the music of their misspent youth in the 1960s and '70s.

Framing Hanley will perform at 9 p.m. today at Juanita's. Admission is $12.

Black Stone Cherry will headline, and Shaman's Harvest will open a show at 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15.

Black Stone Cherry, formed in Kentucky 14 years ago, is a hard rock group whose latest album, Magic Mountain, came out in May 2014. The band's drummer, John Fred Young, is the son of the Kentucky Headhunters' rhythm guitarist Richard Young.

Lucious Spiller will play from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, followed by Harley Hamm at 9 p.m., who will perform a Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute. Admission is $5.

Mike and the Moonpies will perform, along with opening act Swampbird, at 9 p.m. today at White Water Tavern. Admission is $7.

Mike and the Moonpies, based in Austin, Texas, describes its sound on its website as "beer-soaked hipster honky tonk."

Singer-songwriter Adam Faucett has won an award from The Larry Garrison Foundation and will mark the occasion with a performance at 9:30 p.m. Friday. Iron Tongue and Headcold will open the show. Admission is $5.

Larry "Goose" Garrison, the longtime owner of the White Water, died last year, and Matt White, current owner, and some members of Garrison's family formed the foundation to help one artist a year with a special project in the spirit of Garrison's well-known generosity.

Faucett will receive a check for $2,500 to help him with the recording of his next album.

Kevin Gordon will perform at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, joined by central Arkansas musician Isaac Alexander, plus others. Admission is $6.

Gordon, a popular performer at the tavern, is a Louisiana native whose latest album, Gloryland, has been hailed for its song "Colfax (Step in Time)," a long narrative about a high school band teacher's confrontation with the Ku Klux Klan.

Another notable Gordon composition, "Deuce and a Quarter," featured Keith Richards and Levon Helm trading verses for a 1997 project by Elvis Presley bandmates Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana.
