June events boost communities, charities

Little Free Library Gala

Ozark Literacy Council

4 6-9 p.m. -- Literacy will get a lift from the Ozark Literacy Council's Little Free Library Gala at the Fayetteville Town Center. The nonprofit organization is collaborating with the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture and Northwest Arkansas American Institute of Architects on the Little Free Library Design Project: Building Literacy. Building Community. The project will place custom-built Little Free Library kiosks that will house free books for community members to take a book, leave a book to share with neighbors.

The cocktail-attire fundraiser will include live music, a silent auction, dinner and beer and wine. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization's educational and outreach programs. Jazz in June

Bonneville House Association

4 6:30 p.m. -- The Bonneville House Association will jazz things up with the Jazz in June benefit at the historic house in Fort Smith. The evening will feature live music by the Dan Bailey Jazz Combo with Tabitha Graves, a silent auction and cork pull. Tickets are $50. Children's Emergency Shelter

5 7 p.m. -- The Children's Emergency Shelter will spend A Night in Havana at the Fort Smith River Park and Amphitheater with hand-rolled cigars, rum tasting, specialty beer, live and silent auctions, Cuban-inspired cuisine and live music by Calle Soul. Summer Picnic on the Farm

Apple Seeds Teaching Farm

6 11 a.m.-3 p.m. -- The inaugural Summer Picnic at the Farm to benefit Apple Seeds Teaching Farm will take root at the farm in Fayetteville. The family-friendly picnic will include live music, games, farm tours and drinks. Small gourmet baskets feed one to two people and are available for $30. Gangster Gala

Habitat for Humanity

Girl Time

Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter

7 4-7 p.m. -- Spend some Girl Time with your mom, sister or BFF and help out the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter at Theo's restaurant in Rogers. The fundraiser, presented by Northwest Health System, will include humorist Lista Smartt, "glam stations," healthy lifestyle stations, photo booth, heavy hors d'oeuvres, cash bar and the chance to shop the Freckles & Sunshine mobile boutique with a portion of proceeds going to the shelter. Art of Wine Festival

11 6 p.m. -- The 15th annual Art of Wine festival to benefit the Walton Arts Center will begin with the Winemaker's Dinner on the stage of the center's Baum Walker Hall. Winemaker Tatiana Nessier, of Alamos Winery, will lead guests through the tasting dinner. Tickets for the cocktail-attire event are $200 and limited. The evening will also include a silent auction.

12 7 p.m. -- Uncorked: Friday Night Tasting at the arts center will offer a selection of more than 400 wines from around the world and food from area restaurants. Tickets are $80.

13 6 p.m. -- The Premier Tasting will give guests an opportunity to sample premium wines and heavy hors d'oeuvres, with a selection of silent auction items. Tickets are $150.

Cancer Challenge

11-13 -- The three-day, multi-event Cancer Challenge will include a golf tournament, adult and juniors tennis tournaments, trap shoot, 10K and 5K run and 1-mile walk and the All-Star Tailgate Gala at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Rogers. Ronnie Brewer Foundation

12 and 13 -- The Ronnie Brewer Foundation's fifth annual multi-event Charity Weekend will begin with the Brew Bowl from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Ozark Bowling Lanes in Fayetteville. The friendly competition will have a dj, food and drinks. Tickets are $100. The VIP Party will follow bowling from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Fresco Cafe in Fayetteville.

"A Night with the Stars: Arkansas' Finest" gala Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Donald W. Reynolds Boys and Girls Club of Fayetteville. The evening will include dinner, live and silent auctions, live music and a wine pull. 5K @ The LPGA

Mercy Foundation

27 7:30 a.m.-- The 5K @ The LPGA will benefit the Mercy Foundation. The course in Rogers will start at the Walmart AMP, go through the Pinnacle Country Club community, onto the golf course and run along the tournament's signature 17th hole and finish back at the Walmart AMP.
