In knifing, woman faces battery count

A woman stabbed another woman in a dispute over a stolen purse Tuesday night in Little Rock, police reported.

Officers were called at 10:04 p.m. to a house at 2908 W. 13th St. off South Woodrow Street. They found Callis Rhodes, 54, sitting outside the residence, half naked and bleeding. She had been cut and stabbed in the ribs, police reported.

Rhodes told police a woman had accused her of stealing a purse and attacked her, according to a police report. Further circumstances of the attack, as well as any relationship between the two women, were unclear.

As officers spoke to Rhodes, her accused attacker walked out of the residence and was arrested. Police identified her as Shameki Anderson, 35.

Anderson told police she had been inside the home and didn't know what had happened, the report states. She was charged with second-degree battery.

Rhodes was taken to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary for treatment.

Anderson was being held Wednesday in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

2 steal shelf items at Walgreens in LR

Police were investigating after two people robbed a pharmacy Tuesday morning in Little Rock.

Officers were called at 8:49 a.m. to Walgreens at 5917 Baseline Road. An employee, Benjamin Otis, 33, said a man and woman had entered the store and stuffed several items into their pants, according to a police report. Otis said that when he confronted the two, the man implied he had a gun and said, "Big brother, don't be a hero and call the police."

The robbers fled east from the business in a white van.

No injuries were reported in the holdup, which police said was recorded by surveillance cameras.

One robber is described as a 35- to 40-year-old black man, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighingh 165 pounds. He wore a black shirt and black jeans and had tattoos on his forearms.

The other robber is described as a 40- to-45-year-old black woman, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 280 pounds. She wore and orange shirt and gray pants.

Tuesday's robbery was the second reported at the Walgreens this year.

Boy, 16, arrested in gunpoint theft

Little Rock police arrested a teenager Tuesday afternoon who they say was in a group of five people who robbed another teenager of his cellphone May 6.

Martez Nelson, 16, whose listed address is 5915 Carlyle Drive in Little Rock, was arrested Tuesday at 3301 S. Bryant St. in Little Rock, according to an arrest report. The report doesn't list an arrest time, but Nelson was booked into the Pulaski County jail at 4:59 p.m. Tuesday.

Nelson was charged as an adult with aggravated robbery and theft of property.

Police were called to the 3300 block of Elam Street about 5 p.m. May 6 where the 17-year-old victim told officers he got off his school bus at West 32nd and Malloy streets. Three of the robbers got off the school bus also, and he was unsure where the other two robbers came from.

The five "jumped" the victim and took his Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone, he told police. One of the robbers, who was not wearing a shirt, pointed a black handgun at the victim and forced him to enter his password into the phone.

Detailed descriptions of the other four robbers were unavailable.

Nelson was being held in the jail Wednesday evening in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
