Czech film festival set for Little Rock

Arkansans will get the chance to experience Czech cinema next week in Little Rock.

Arkansas will host a Czech film festival for the first time, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission announced Friday. The Arkansas Film Commission is partnering with the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission to host the festival.

“Czech That Film” will begin June 5 at the Central Arkansas Library System’s Ron Robinson Theater in the River Market District. Five films will screen during the two-day festival. All films will have subtitles.

A question-and-answer session with Czech actress Eva Jenickova will follow the 7 p.m. opening screening of Clownwise, directed by Viktor Tauš, on June 5.

Four films will show June 6. To See the Sea, directed by Jiří Mádl, will start at noon; The Icing, directed by Jan Hřebejk, will follow at 1:45 p.m.; Fair Play, directed by Andrea Sedláčková, will show at 3:30 p.m., and the final showing, Krásno, directed by Ondřej Sokol, will conclude the festival at 5:45 p.m.

Admission to all films is free, but reservations are required. Seats can be reserved at czechthatfilm.com.
