Police found Emily Nash dead from a gunshot wound Wednesday morning, according to a news release that day. Police were called at 8:11 a.m. to 802 H Bailey Ave. by a family member, according to the release. The woman who called police gave her name only as "Christy," Lewis said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, police didn't know if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. However, an autopsy revealed enough information Friday for the police to investigate the death as a homicide, according to a later news release.

The official report from the state Crime Laboratory will not be returned to the Springdale Police Department for several weeks, according to the news release.

Police wouldn't release information Friday about why Nash's death appears to be a homicide, Lewis said. Police also wouldn't release the case report, citing an ongoing investigation.

Nash doesn't have any record at the Springdale Police Department, Lewis said. No calls to police had been received from the apartment where Nash apparently lived and died, he said.

Nash's family began to look for her several days ago, Deedra Petty of Russellville said via social media Friday. Petty said she knew Nash and she was a "sweet" person.

Several of Nash's family members and friends didn't return calls, email or messages left via Facebook on Friday.
