LR man tells police shotgun to kill kin

A man arrested with a sawed-off shotgun in his possession outside of a Little Rock home Friday told police he was there to kill his cousin, according to an arrest report.

James Earl Lambert, 22, of Little Rock was charged with carrying a weapon and criminal use of a prohibited weapon. He was additionally charged with possession of a defaced firearm, as police reported the shotgun's serial number had been scratched off.

Officers confronted Lambert about 12:35 p.m. at 1901 Sanford Drive after a caller told police that an armed man had been walking around the residence. Lambert told officers he'd been waiting for his cousin to come home so he could kill him, according to the report.

Further details of the arrest weren't immediately available. No injuries were reported.

Lambert was being held in the Pulaski County jail late Friday.

Gunman downtown runs off with purse

Little Rock police were investigating after a woman was robbed at gunpoint downtown.

Officers were called at 2:07 a.m. to Scott and East Markham streets. Kelly Naylor, 42, of Little Rock and Robert Cash, 40, of Memphis said they'd been approached by a man who asked them for a dollar, according to a police report. They told the man they didn't have one, and he ran toward them and pulled a gun. The man took Naylor's purse and fled south.

No injuries were reported.

Police searched the area but made no arrests.

The assailant is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds and between the ages of 20 and 25. He wore a white hat, white shirt and plaid pants.

Police: Beer thief's getaway thwarted

The owner of a Little Rock convenience store restrained a beer thief until police arrived Thursday, according to an arrest report.

Officers responded about 10:14 p.m. to Super Stop at 6828 Colonel Glenn Road. They found the store owner, Sang Kim, 51, holding down Tonya Brewer, 43, in the parking lot. Kim said Brewer had taken two packs of Budweiser and fled, and she scratched and bit him when he tried to stop her, according to the report. Kim's injuries were minor.

Brewer, of North Little Rock, was charged with robbery. She also faces unrelated charges of second-degree forgery and theft of property.

Brewer was being held in the Pulaski County jail late Friday.
