Erecting structural steel for the ramp carrying traffic from Interstate 430 north to Interstate 40 west at the I-430/I-40 interchange in North Little Rock will require overnight lane closures on I-40 beginning Monday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.
The work will require alternating closures of the eastbound and westbound lanes between mile markers 147 and 148 -- including short, intermittent stoppages of traffic in both directions while work is performed over the travel lanes -- from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily through Friday, weather permitting.
The work is part of a $38.4 million project to widen 5.1 miles of I-40 to six lanes between I-430 and Arkansas 365. It's scheduled to be completed next year, the department said.
