State's merit scholars listed

Forty-three members of the Arkansas high school Class of 2015 are among about 2,200 new graduates nationally to be named this week as winners of National Merit Scholarships that are financed by colleges and universities.

Sixteen of the recipients are from Northwest Arkansas.

The awards range from $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of study at the campusES funding the scholarships.

The recipients named this week are the third group of high school seniors to be named National Merit Scholarship winners. Other recipients were named April 22 and May 6. Another group will be announced on July 13.

The 16 recipients from Northwest Arkansas, their hometowns, high schools, the colleges or universities where they plan to attend and their intended field of study are:
