Texas LB commits to Arkansas

Four-star linebacker Jordan Carmouche announced his oral commitment to Arkansas on Twitter Saturday night during his official visit.

Carmouche, 6-1, 225, 4.6 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Manvel, Texas, chose the Razorbacks than over more than 20 other scholarship offers including Texas, Oklahoma, Stanford, Baylor, Texas Tech, Missouri and Colorado.

He recorded 57 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, a quarterback hurry, an interception, 4 pass breakups and a recovered fumble as a junior.

His teammate, Ole Miss running back commitment D'Vaughn Pennamon, 5-11, 212 pounds, 4.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash, is also officially visiting the Hogs this weekend.

He becomes Arkansas' No. 15 commitment for the 2016 class. Oral commitments are non-binding.

Parker in stable condition at hospital

Benton Harmony Grove Coach Jimmy "Red" Parker was in stable condition Saturday at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Athletic Director Ricky Mooney said.

Parker, 84, was transported to Baptist on Friday night after his heart defibrillator went off six times before the Cardinals' game against Episcopal Collegiate in Little Rock. He had announced his retirement from coaching Wednesday after 62 seasons but was expected to coach the team's final two regular-season games.

Assistant coaches Richard Moore and Dwight Fite took handled coaching duties Friday night.

Mooney said Parker is expected to remain at hospitalized the rest of the weekend.

Harmony Grove hosts Horatio on Thursday.

UALR advances to Sun Belt Tournament

UALR defeated Georgia Southern 22-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-21 Saturday at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock to earn a spot in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

UALR (11-12, 7-6 Sun Belt) was led by Edina Sellmovic, who finished with 13 kills while Miona Milovanovic had 10. Taylor Lindberg had 40 assists and 11 digs. Priscilla Almeida had 21 digs.
