Trick-or-treater, 6, hit by passing Jeep

A 6-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle while trick-or-treating Saturday night in a subdivision northeast of Russellville, according to the Pope County sheriff.

The girl was crossing the street from east to west on Herring Cove where it intersects with Blackfin Drive in the Cove Landing subdivision when she was struck by the front passenger side of a Jeep, Pope County Sheriff Shane Jones said in a news release Sunday.

Jones did not release the girl's name.

The child was taken to the emergency room at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville and was later flown to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

According to Jones, the girl was "conscious and talking" before being flown to Little Rock.

Melissa Wilcoxson with Arkansas Children's Hospital said she could not release the girl's health status without a name.
