Jury selection has begun in a trial for a man accused of opening fire on a group of teenage pranksters, killing one.

Willie Noble, 50, faces possible life in prison if he is convicted of felony first-degree murder and terroristic act charges against him. Police say Noble shot at a car full of teens he suspected had vandalized his car in February 2014.

Noble, who is not in police custody, arrived to court through the public entrance along with his attorney, Ron Davis.

Adrian Broadway, 15, was shot in the head and later died at the hospital. Noble told police he simply meant to scare the teenagers, according to a police report.

During jury selection, Davis pressed potential jurors to adhere strictly to the wording of the law, specifically the part of a statute stating murder is in the first degree when done "in the course of and in the furtherance of" committing a felony.

Before breaking for lunch, two groups of potential jurors were brought in to replace a total of nine who were dismissed.

Noble's murder charge is a Class Y felony, the most severe crime in Arkansas not punishable by death.

The shooting happened in the early morning hours outside Noble's home on the 7200 block of Skylark Drive in Little Rock.
