Rogers library features author of medical thrillers

Author Tess Gerritson will headline this year's Conversations fundraiser to benefit the Rogers Public Library Foundation on Nov. 13 at the library. The evening will include a meet-and-greet and a question and answer session with Gerritson. Ticket price also includes a copy of Gerritson's latest book, "Playing with Fire," released Oct. 27.

Gerritson started her professional career as a physician but began writing while on maternity leave, with her first novel published in 1987. Specializing in medical thrillers, one of Gerritson's series of novels features homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles and served as the inspiration for the television series, "Rizzoli and Isles."

Authors featured in past years include Lee Child, James Patterson, Nicholas Sparks, Debbie Macomber, Carol Higgins Clark and James Dashner.

Cari Lewis, foundation executive director, said proceeds from the annual fundraiser help the foundation increase its endowment and support otherwise unfunded programs at the library such as tutor.com and its Lego program.

Tutor.com gives students with a Rogers Public Library card access to the service that provides a professional online tutor for help with homework.
