Leaf collection to start Nov. 16

Leaf-vacuum trucks will start running Nov. 16 in North Little Rock as the city's annual leaf pickup resumes for the fall.

The free curbside service will run until mid-February, according to information provided by a city spokesman.

The schedule can vary depending on the amount of leaves that have fallen and the level of participation in neighborhoods. Typically, leaf-vacuum trucks return to a street to pick up leaves every two to six weeks, depending on the demand.

Leaves must be raked or blown to within 6 feet of the curb and aren't to be raked into streets or onto sidewalks. Curbs must be clear of parked vehicles to allow the vacuum crews to reach the leaves, and tree limbs should be removed from leaf piles to avoid damage to truck equipment.

A map of the leaf pickup schedule is available on the city's website, nlr.ar.gov, or residents can call (501) 371-8355 and select option 1 and then option 4 for the current location of leaf-vacuum trucks.

Bagged leaves will continue to be picked up weekly on regular yard-waste collection days.
