Police: Kids were in car while man, woman smoked marijuana

Two toddlers were found in the backseat of a car during a North Little Rock traffic stop that led to drug arrests Tuesday, police said.

According to police records, Ortavia Dodson, 24, and Eric Jackson, 31, were both charged with drug possession. Dodson was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child and Jackson was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to North Little Rock Police Department arrest reports, officers stopped the pair around 7:45 p.m. for impeding traffic on Allen Street. Police said they smelled marijuana inside the car and also saw flakes and seeds.

Two toddlers, ages 2 and 3, were in the backseat, according to the report.

Police said the Dodson and Jackson acknowledged smoking and that substances seized from the vehicle tested positive for marijuana in a field test.

The report also says Dodson was carrying a pill bottle with marijuana in it.

No other information about the children or their relation to those arrested was included in the report.

Both Dodson and Jackson remained in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday morning.
