Shinedown part of triad coming to rock Verizon

Shinedown
Shinedown

Shinedown will headline a hard rock triple-header, also featuring Breaking Benjamin and Sevendust, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Verizon Arena. Tickets are $57 and $51.50.

The three bands have built a solid fan base in central Arkansas through years of performances in local clubs. Shinedown, formed in Jacksonville, Fla., in 2001, has sold more than 6 million albums worldwide. The band has released five albums, the latest of which, Threat to Survival, came out Sept. 15.

Founded by lead singer Brent Smith and drummer Barry Kerch, who remain as the only original members, the band now includes Zach Myers on lead guitar and Eric Bass on, appropriately, bass, plus piano.

Breaking Benjamin, from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., was founded in 1999 by its only remaining original member, lead singer Benjamin Burnley. His bandmates, all of whom joined in 2014 after legal disputes led to the departure of earlier members, are Aaron Bruch on bass, Keith Wallen on rhythm guitar, Jasen Rauch on lead guitar and Shaun Foist on drums.

The group released Dark Before Dawn, its first album in six years, June 23, and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard top 200 albums chart.

Sevendust launched its alternative metal career in 1994 in Atlanta. The band has been led since then by lead singer Lajon Witherspoon, bassist Vince Hornsby and drummer Morgan Rose. Guitarists Clint Lowery and John Connally left the band in 2004 and 2005, respectively, but both rejoined in 2008.

The group has released 11 albums, the most recent of which, Kill the Flaw, was released Oct. 2.
