Frost advisory set with temperatures expected to fall into 30s

The first frost advisory for a large swath of Arkansas goes into effect Friday night as temperatures are expected to fall close to the freezing mark for much of the state.

The advisory is in effect from midnight Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday, and covers most of central, northern and eastern Arkansas.

Temperatures could reach the low-to-mid 30s, according to the weather service.

A frost advisory was also issued Sunday night earlier this week, but it only included northern Arkansas.

According to Joseph Goudsward, a meteorologist with the weather service in North Little Rock, the last widespread frost advisory was issued between Nov. 12 and 14, 2014. Temperatures reached as low as the mid 20s on Nov. 14, 2014.

Frost advisories are issued by the weather service during the growing season when widespread frost can affect plants.
