The Saline County sheriff's office is investigating the death of a jail inmate, the agency reported Monday.
Emergency medical personnel were called after jailers found Donovan Arras, 30, of Bauxite, unresponsive late Sunday afternoon, according to agency spokesman Lt. Jeff Silk. Arras was later pronounced dead.
Circumstances of Arras' death were unclear, Silk said.
"We don't know how it happened, we don't know why it happened," he said.
Arras had been at the jail since Nov. 7, when he was arrested for a probation violation, according to the sheriff's office.
The investigation is ongoing.
