WHEN HENDRIX HAS THE BALL Hendrix describes its offense as “multiple formation, run, pass option,” meaning at any given time they can give the ball to any of its playmakers. Most of the time, it’s quarterback Seth Peters getting it to Dayton Winn to run behind a seasoned-line. Winn leads NCAA Division III with 2,527 all-purpose yards and second in rushing with 1,640 yards. But, Peters has been pretty good this season, too. The junior from Greenbrier is third in the SAA in yards per game (254.7) and passing touchdowns (15). The Warriors have topped 40 points in six games this season. Huntingdon College won the USA South Athletic Conference, but ranks 112th in passing yards allowed (209.8) and 71st in scoring (21.9).

WHEN HUNTINGDON HAS THE BALL The Hawks have scored 31 or more points in every game this season and 40 or more points six times. Quarterback Luke Bailey, a two-year starter, has passed for 2,160 yards with 25 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He’s also rushed for 425 yards and five more touchdowns. Hendrix is coming off its first shutout since the program was started in 2013, but has shown vulnerabilities on defense at times. The Warriors gave up 51 points in a victory over Washington (Mo.) and 48 in a victory at Centre. Hendrix ranks 146th in Division III in total defense (395.5 yards allowed per game), 127th against the run (165.0), 162nd against the pass (230.5) and 145th in scoring (28.6).

WHAT’S AT STAKE Hendrix is in the Division III playoffs for the first time. A victory would set up a second-round game against the winner of Hardin-Simmons vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor.

QUOTING COACH BUCHANAN “Our whole mentality is ‘Don’t wait to be good. Let’s just try to be as good as we can every day.’ We’ve challenged our guys, we’ve challenged everybody around us to be that way.”
