ANTIQUES IN THE QUARTER

Shoppers uncover treasures during antiques fundraiser

Silver, jewelry, fine linens, Oriental rugs, pottery and other antique items were on display at the inaugural Antiques in the Quarter preview party Nov. 5 at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church. Not only were the vintage items on display, but guests at the preview had first pick of their favorites at the three-day event.

While shopping, guests enjoyed a buffet of homemade goodies from church members along with sparkling lemonade. Antiques vendors from Arkansas and several other states displayed their wares in several rooms inside the historic church.

Shopping opened to the public Nov. 6 and 7, and guests also enjoyed tours and music. Church members also prepared food items for sale including pulled pork sandwiches.

About $7,000 was raised, which will go toward the general fund of the church. Built in 1925, it's on the National Register of Historic Places.
