Two teens committed to a northeast Arkansas juvenile treatment center on felony charges ran away from the center Tuesday morning as they were heading to class, according to the state's Department of Human Services.

In a statement, the agency said Dekota Acklin, 16, and Mackenzie Suitor, 17, were walking out of their Harrisburg Juvenile Treatment Center dormitory about 8:03 a.m. with others at the center and began running.

Staff members chased after the two but were not able to catch up with them, according to the statement.

Attempts by law enforcement officers to locate Acklin and Suitor in the Harrisburg area about 8:20 a.m. were unsuccessful.

Acklin, who has been at the center for nearly a year on a crime against a person, is described as a white male standing 5 feet 6 inches tall, having brown hair and brown eyes, and weighing 130 pounds.

Suitor, committed on a nonviolent offense, is described as a white male standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, having hazel eyes and weighing 135 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call local law enforcement.
