A mainstay at KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock for more than 15 years will depart from the company early next year, the ABC affiliate said Tuesday.

Scott Inman, who currently anchors the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. weeknight newscasts, has been with KATV since 1999. He started as a weekend sports anchor before joining the news desk as an anchor in 2003, according to the station.

KATV said in a statement on its website that Inman has decided to leave to "pursue other interests and to spend more time with his family."

"This was a very difficult decision," Inman said of his leave from KATV. "I am truly humbled by the trust KATV viewers have placed in me over the years, and know that they will continue to trust KATV for their news, weather and sports."

Inman will join GenWealth Financial Advisors next year as director of business development, the company said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

GenWealth Financial Advisors has offices in Little Rock, Bryant, El Dorado, Lonoke and Stuttgart.

"I was already a client and trust GenWealth with my investments," Inman said in the financial advisory firm's statement. "I look forward to helping others establish that trust with their knowledgeable and experienced group of [advisers]."

KATV's general manager, Mark Rose, said Inman has been an "important part of the KATV family" during his tenure with the company. Rose added that the station fully supports Inman's decision.

A Stuttgart native, Inman was a country music DJ for KWAK 105.5 FM while in high school before he began his TV career at NBC affiliate WGEM in Quincy, Ill., and landed a job at KATV.

Inman's successor has not been named, and details regarding the process of naming the next anchor were not released Tuesday.

One of the good guys. We will miss seeing him on the air for KATV. And I suppose he will no longer be apart of the Razorbacks broadcast either? It sounds like he might be leaving broadcasting and maybe staying in the area.

We will miss Scott on Ch 7 but he is joining a great group of people at GenWealth. Congratulations on the new career.
