Authorities are investigating after a 31-year-old man was found fatally shot inside a vehicle in Little Rock on Wednesday morning.

A Little Rock Police Department spokesman said investigators were called to 38th and Zion Street for an unresponsive man, identified Wednesday afternoon as Renaldo Wade, who was found to be dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Wade was found sitting in the driver's seat of a gold Toyota Avalon after a call was made to authorities about 5:30 a.m. for "unknown trouble," according to a police statement Wednesday afternoon.

Officer Richard Hilgeman said there was no preliminary suspect information available or indication when the shooting actually took place, though it is believed to have happened at some point overnight.

According to the afternoon statement, Wade's body was transported to the state Crime Lab, and the investigation is ongoing.

The killing was the second time in as many days Little Rock investigators were called to a homicide. Police responded Tuesday morning to 2511 Bishop St. after a man called and said he had killed his girlfriend, authorities said. The last homicide before that was Sept. 22.

The most recent homicide is the city's 26th so far this year.
