Taillight stop leads to three drug-related arrests in North Little Rock

Three people in a car stopped by North Little Rock police for a faulty taillight were arrested Wednesday when an officer found drugs and paraphernalia in the car, according to their arrest reports.

The passengers, Katherine Keller, 44, and John Bain, 32, were each charged with drug possession, according to arrest reports. The two and the driver, Phillip Bates, 36, were all charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police pulled over the car near the intersection of Remount Road and Kierre Drive in North Little Rock around 1:30 a.m. for having a broken taillight, according to an arrest report.

The report says a check revealed Bates had active warrant out of Mayflower and a suspended license, leading police to search the vehicle.

A digital scale and glass pipe were found in the center console and attributed to Bates, the report said.

The report says a digital scale with residue was visibly protruding from Keller's purse, which also contained a glass pipe, syringes and plastic baggies. A purple pouch next to Keller in the backseat contained prescription drugs, according to the report.

Pills, methamphetamine and a glass pipe found in a sunglasses case next to the passenger seat were attributed to Bain, as were pills found in the glove box, the report said.
