Soil sample crews to close I-30 lanes

Crews taking soil samples will require another round of lane closures on Interstate 30 in Little Rock and North Little Rock beginning Monday and lasting about three weeks, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The work will require alternately closing the inside and outside lanes of eastbound and westbound I-30 within the work zone between Interstate 530 in Little Rock and Interstate 40 in North Little Rock through Dec. 18.

Weekday lane closures will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weekend lane closures will take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., and nighttime lane closures will go from 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting, the department said. Traffic will be controlled using traffic cones and advance warning signs.

This work is part of the proposed project to widen I-30 in Little Rock and North Little Rock between I-40 and I- 530. The project also includes replacing the Arkansas River bridge, as well as improvements to I-40 from Arkansas 107 to U.S. 67 in North Little Rock.
