Garden Club

The Garden Club of Rogers will host its annual Christmas meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rogers Adult Wellness Center, 2001 W. Persimmon St.

The speaker will be Oscar Cross, owner of Hill Top Gardens in Ash Grove, Mo. His topic will be "Working on my Night Blooms." There will be a horticulture report, with a plant give away, and a silent auction, with proceeds going to our community gardening projects.

Dinner will be catered by Dickey's Barbecue. Reservations are required.

Music Club

The monthly meeting will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Christian Church on Forest Hills Boulevard. The program will be "The Real Spirit of Christmas" told through the singing of carols and poetry led by Mary Shambarger and Jo Evans. The hymn of the month will be "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" and the folk song "All Through the Night." Everyone is invited to the meeting.

Hikers

Hill N' Dale Hikers will hike the trails at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Meet at the Crystal Bridges upper parking lot. The group plans to lunch afterward at Pedaler's Pub in Bentonville. Nonmembers are welcome to participate.

Archeologists

A local resident's time spent in an archeological field school in Greece will be discussed at a monthly archeological meeting held on the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith campus.

Connie Manning, curator at the Fort Smith Museum of History, will talk about her time spent at Mitrou, a Bronze Age archeological site in Greece. The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 204 of the Math-Science Building on the UAFS campus.

Manning worked at the site while studying for her master's degree in classics from Washington University in St. Louis. She also recently completed a master's degree in library and information science from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.

The presentation is part of the monthly meeting for the Ark-Homa Chapter of the Arkansas Archeological Society and the Oklahoma Anthropological Society, and it is free and open to the public.

Square dancers

Ark-Oma Square Dance Club will be dancing at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Springdale Senior Center, 203 Park St. Bob Loyd will be calling. There will be mainstream and plus dancing. Square dance attire is admired but not required.

Our Christmas dance will be Dec. 18. Mike Huddleson will be calling.

Orchid Society

Orchid Society of the Ozarks is meeting at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Northwest Technical Institute (south door) at 709 S. Old Missouri Road in Springdale. A Dirty Santa orchid related gift exchange will be featured.

The objective of the society is to stimulate interest in orchids and their culture. Monthly raffles for members and occasional public auctions offer affordable orchids and supplies for new and experienced growers.

Photographers

The Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas will hold its final gallery reception of the year from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 10. PSNWA will showcase the 12 winners of its monthly online photo competitions for 2015. Winners are picked each month by votes from PSNWA members.

PSNWA's new hall gallery will also debut an exhibit "Vanishing Past" by local photographer Melissa L. Jones. The reception for both galleries is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The event takes place at the PSNWA Gallery & Studios, 126 W. Emma Ave. in downtown Springdale.
