DESIGNING HOPE

Firefighters light up runway to aid adult burn survivors

Little Rock firefighters dressed to the nines in duds from Culture Clothing Co. and Dillard's, then sauntered down the aisle Nov. 12 at the Designing Hope fundraiser. The event raised money for adult burn survivors to attend Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery (SOAR), a survivors retreat.

The event took place at the new Romas by Linda Rowe Thomas.

Thomas, a fashion designer and burn survivor, is founder of the Designing Hope Foundation, which works to empower burn survivors by promoting physical and emotional healing and continued growth. She presented her spring and summer 2016 collection.

A VIP reception started the evening, which included a silent auction and city sampler with treats from local restaurants Chuy's, YaYa's Euro Bistro, The Southern Gourmasian and Tracy Cakes.

Before the fashion show began, Little Rock firefighter Charles Austin received the Gretta Wilkinson Hero Award for his continuous efforts in fundraising for Arkansas Children's Hospital's burn camps and retreats.
