Spring River Gem and Mineral Club Meeting

Susan G. Komen Foundation Fundraiser

HEBER SPRINGS — American Legion Post 64 will hold a fundraiser to honor Molly Somers and Team Earth Angels from 3 p.m. to midnight at the post, 49 Park Road. The fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation will include pool and horseshoe tournaments, a poker run from 12:30-3:30 p.m., 50/50 drawings, a silent auction, door prizes, and musical entertainment by Charlotte Taylor and Gypsy Rain. Fishing Tournament

SCOTT — The first Great Scott! Catch ’em and Eat ’em Fishing Tournament will begin at noon at Mound Lake. Go Social Series

BATESVILLE — A five workshop series will be held at First Community Bank in the George Rider Room from 9 a.m. to noon Friday and Oct. 9, 21, 30 and Nov. 6. The workshops will focus on social-media platforms, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and the financial impact of using social media. Printmaking Exhibition

Introduction to Computers Course

MAMMOTH SPRING— Ozarka College will offer a six-week Introduction to Computers continuing education course at the Mammoth Spring campus. Topics will include Microsoft Windows, Internet search and navigation, saving/managing files on a computer, email, sending attachments, uploading photos, Facebook basics, eBay and craigslist. FLORAL — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville Adult Education Department is partnering with Midland Elementary School to offer classes from 3-5 p.m. Mondays in the computer lab on the elementary campus in Floral. Instruction in reading, math, writing and computer literacy skills will be available, designed for adults who want to obtain a high school diploma, prepare for the Compass test to enroll in college, acquire a Career Readiness Certificate or learn to use a computer. Yoga in the Gallery

Oktoberfest at the Bay, Storyfest at the Bay

FAIRFIELD BAY — OktoberFest will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 9 and run until 10 p.m. that day, with local arts and crafts offered for sale until 6 p.m. German food, music and dance will round out the day. On Oct. 10, the festival will open at 9 a.m. and feature Thunder in the Bay, a motorcycle rally sponsored by the Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; a Volkswagen Show and Shine until 5 p.m.; and an OktoberFest celebration and dance, with an oom-pah-pah band playing from 7-10 p.m. The city’s sixth annual StoryFest, suitable for all ages, will be held Oct. 10 and feature Sean Buvala and Minton Sparks. Pancake Breakfast

CABOT — The Cabot Lions Club will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast from 6-10 a.m. Oct. 10 in the Cabot First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children 10 and younger. Carryout orders will be available. The club will accept used eyeglasses for recycling. Proceeds will be used to provide vision services for Cabot-area residents.
