CLINTON — The Construction Has Stopped and It’s Time to Shop will continue through Friday. The event is a citywide promotion to celebrate the completion of the U.S. 65 road-construction project with prize drawings and sales. Customers can register to win prizes at participating businesses in the city of Clinton. This week of promotions and sales will conclude with prize drawings at the eighth annual Chili King Cook-off on Saturday in historic downtown Clinton.

Community Connections in Conway

CONWAY — Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, a division of the Arkansas Department of Career Education, will host Community Connections from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ARS’s Conway field office, 1150 Museum Road, Suite 3. Human Rights Celebration

Fall Book Sale

CONWAY — The Friends of Faulkner County Libraries request book donations for the Friends’ fall book sale, to be held for Friends members from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday and for the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the main library, 1900 Tyler St. Friends Memberships will be available for purchase at Friday’s sale. Hardback books will be sold for 50 cents per pound, and paperback books for 25 cents each. Special tables will hold paperback books to be sold for $3 per bag. Benefit Yard Sale

VILONIA — A benefit yard sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1206 Main St. Antique cars will also be on display. Proceeds will help defray the costs of a stem-cell transplant for church member Dawn Louden of Conway, who has multiple sclerosis.

Governor’s Dislocated Workers Task Force Mobile Unit

MORRILTON — The Governor’s Dislocated Workers Task Force Mobile Unit will be at the University of Arkansas Community College in Morrilton from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the Workforce Strong Manufacturing Day. This free event is open to the community and will offer a complementary lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs. No reservations are necessary. Workforce Strong in Central Arkansas is designed for junior and senior high school students, as well as underemployed and unemployed adults. The event offers opportunities to explore the school’s technical areas, meet instructors, see the equipment used in the hands-on labs and speak with possible future employers. Sacred Heart School’s Octoberfest

MORRILTON — Sacred Heart Catholic School will host Octoberfest, beginning with a bake sale at 4 p.m. An all-you-can-eat turkey-and-dressing dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 5-8 p.m. The event will include games for all ages and a silent auction until 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 4-12. Church Anniversary Celebration

PERRYVILLE — Perryville United Methodist Church, 123 Cross St., will celebrate 170 years of service to God and the community, beginning with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., followed by a worship service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Beth Perdue will lead the service, and the Rev. Richard Lancaster of Little Rock, the Central District superintendent, will present a special message. Former pastors and former members will share their experiences at Perryvile UMC during the worship service and during the afternoon celebration service in the Connection Center. Mariachi America Concert

MORRILTON — In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will present the Mariachi America band in concert from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the UACCM Student Union on the west side of the Kirk Building. Admission is free for this family event, which aims to bring awareness and celebration to the heritage and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans around the world. Booths will be set up to share information about UACCM programs and services, including Admissions, the Financial Aid Office, the Adult Education ESL (English as a Second Language) program, Career Pathways, the nursing department and the art department.

The Cantrells Concert

CONWAY — The Cantrells will perform their original folk and bluegrass music at 7 p.m. at the Faulkner County Library. The duo features Emily Cantrell’s songs and rhythm guitar, and Al Cantrell’s contest-winning fiddling in traditional, swing and Irish style. Arkansas Archeological Society Meeting

RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas River Valley Chapter of the Arkansas Archeological Society will meet at 7 p.m. at the Arkansas Tech Museum in the Techionery Building at Arkansas Tech University, 1502 N. Harry Potter Celebration

Walk to Remember

CONWAY — Registration is open for the seventh annual Conway Regional Walk to Remember, a free event to help families remember an infant who died before or shortly after birth. The walk will be held Oct. 10 at Conway High School’s John McConnell Football Stadium. Check-in will be at 10 a.m., followed by a remembrance ceremony for babies at 11 a.m., then the walk and a balloon release. Fall Bazaar

MAYFLOWER — The Mayflower United Methodist Women will hold their Fall Bazaar at 7 a.m. Nov. 7. The event will feature a variety of handmade fried pies for $1 each. Christmas Parade

RUSSELLVILLE — The 2015 Russellville Christmas Parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3.
