Rocker Lewis brings country sounds to Juanita's

Aaron Lewis -- lead singer of rock band Staind -- will headline a 9 p.m. country show today at Juanita's that will open with sets by Jason Cassidy and Cody Cook. Admission is $40.

Lewis, 43, veered into country music in 2011 when he released the EP Town Line, which featured guest vocals by Charlie Daniels, Chris Young and George Jones. Lewis released a full-length country-oriented album, The Road, in November 2012.

Dana Louise & the Glorious Birds will play a free patio show at 7 p.m. Friday. Louise is the daughter of Ezra Idlet of Trout Fishing in America, and her band includes her father and his musical partner Keith Grimwood.

The 28th annual Musicfest El Dorado will be held on four stages Friday and Saturday in downtown El Dorado.

Tickets are $25 per day for adults or $40 for a weekend pass, available at Murphy USA locations in Arkansas. Children 12 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult admission. Admission is free before 3 p.m. Saturday.

More than 30 acts, including 3 Doors Down, Dwight Yoakam, Kid 'N' Play, Will Hoge, Whiskey Myers and Jason D. Williams will perform.

The schedule for Friday on the El Dorado Chemical Main Stage includes Roses & Revolvers at 6:30 p.m., Will Hoge at 8 and 3 Doors Down at 9:45. The Friday schedule on the Murphy USA Stage begins with Beka DeSantis at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Jared Mourad Band at 7 and Cody Cooke & the Bayou Outlaws at 8:30. PJ's Coffee Stage will host Southern Koast at 5:30 p.m.

The schedule for Saturday on the El Dorado Chemical Main Stage opens with Roses & Revolvers at 6 p.m., followed by Barrett Baber at 7, Whiskey Myers at 8 and Yoakam at 9:45. The Saturday schedule for the Murphy USA Stage opens with Alchemy at 11 a.m., followed by Telematic at 12:30 p.m., Josh Wheeler at 1:30, Prestor John at 2:45, Triple Threat at 4 and DJ D Sewell at 7:30. PJ's Coffee Stage will feature Monty Russell at 1:30, Sleepy LaBeef at 3, and Williams at 4:30. The Train Car at Corrine Court Stage will feature Mary Heather Hickman at 12:30 p.m., the Donald Miller Trio at 2 and Joseph Shackleford at 3.

The fifth annual Hot Water Hills festival opens at 4 p.m. Friday, closes at 11:30 p.m. and continues from noon to 11:30 p.m. Saturday in downtown Hot Springs at the Hill Wheatley Plaza. There will be music, vendors, workshops and activities for children.

Admission is $5, free for children under the age of 12. Lawn chairs are suggested (but not outside food or drink). Saturday, admission will be free until 4 p.m.

Music on the Basecamp Main Stage begins Friday with the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts Folk Music Ensemble at 5 p.m., Telegraph Canyon at 6, Daniel Romano at 7:30, Adam Faucett & The Tall Grass at 9, and Ghost Bones at 10:30.

Music on the Main Stage Saturday begins at 4:30 p.m. with The Spa City Youngbloods, followed by Good Graeff at 5:15, The Christian Lee Hutson Band at 6, Big Piph & Tomorrow Maybe at 7:30, Magnolia Sons at 9 and Sad Daddy at 10:30.

The Buskers Corner stage Saturday will open with Maxine Meyers at noon, followed by Turtle Rush at 1 p.m., The Shindiggin Fools at 2, Alexis Hampo at 3 and The Puppet Maestro & Laura Lee Williard at 4.

Kids activities begin at 4 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday with the construction of the Garland County Library Cardboard City, along with The Cat & Mouse Parade Gallery and the Art & Retro Rummage Fair, with more than 20 vendors. The Art & Tinker Tent, presented by the Mid America Science Museum, will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon-8 p.m. Saturday.
