Where I live: North Hills in Sherwood.

Occupation: Pastor at New Life Church and CEO of the CrossHeirs Retreat Center in Humphrey.

My favorite space is: My backyard fire pit.

Why? Well, for starters, and I know this is prideful, I built it. I'm not a great carpenter or stonemason but it has held together pretty well for the past five years or so, and the fact it hasn't collapsed is kinda cool.

Next, I grew up in Northern California and love spending time in the woods. The Bible says that God and his eternal attributes are evident through everything he has created. I know God is in all and through all, and if you look hard enough, you can find him even in a concrete jungle. But for me, there's nothing that brings me into the presence of the Lord quite like spending time in the woods staring at a campfire. Since I haven't found a way to make a living doing that, I did my best to re-create a little bit of the country here in the suburbs. Staring into those flames, especially on a cool fall afternoon, helps quiet the noise of everyday life and hear more clearly the voice of the one who made me and loves me and brings purpose to life.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Add more subtle lighting and better landscaping -- though I have very little time to tend to it.
