Savino

What's to love: A simple solution for preserving an open bottle of wine.

The Cord Dome is shown in this photo.

What does it do: After a glass (or two) of wine, pour the remainder of the wine in the carafe-like Savino, which will keep the wine fresh for several days. A float sits on top of the wine, creating a barrier between the wine and the air. A top prevents accidental spills. The wine preserver comes in a glass version for $59.95 and a plastic version for $29.95.

Cord Dome by Twist and Seal

What's to love: Protects multiple extension cord connections from the elements.

What does it do: It's almost that time of year when giant inflatable pumpkins, special lighting and other fall decorations needing electricity pop up in neighborhoods. The cord dome protects power strips and multiple cords plugged into it from rain as well as dust and debris. Optional pegs secure the dome to the ground. The made-in-America Cord Dome was named the Most Innovative Product of the Year at the National Hardware Show. Made of hard weather-resistant plastic, the product sells for $24.99.
